After years of disputes between the club and its players, Real Madrid have been ranked the world’s worst employers by business magazine Forbes.

The recent neglect of Gareth Bale, highlighted by Zidane telling reporters “the sooner he is gone the better” and club president Florentino Perez blocking Bale from a 60-million-euros-per-year move to China days later, has shone the spotlight on Madrid’s treatment of its players.

Real Madrid has long been accused of failing to respect players who have contributed greatly to their storied successes.

In 2015, Iker Casillas was reportedly forced out of the club by Florentino Perez after 25 years and 19 titles with the club. In 2018, Cristiano Ronaldo left for Juventus after claiming that he lacked support from the president and after years of complaints of the Bernabeu crowd booing the 5-time Balon D’or winner during matches.

Now in 2019, the club has made it clear that Bale is an unwanted figure at Real Madrid despite scoring over 100 goals in 231 appearances for the Whites, with 3 goals coming in Champions League Finals.

Given Real Madrid’s track record, the evaluation of the organisation as the world’s worst employees may have some merit.
